Sunday saw 24 Hayle runners head to the south coast to take on the Rosemullion 10K.
The race is part of the MTRS, so runners were treated to mud, trail, and beautiful views. The route passes around Rosemullion Head, across undulating fields, through ancient woodland, and past the secluded coves of the Helford River’s north shore. After climbing out of Durgan, a fast section of trail and road takes runners back towards the start at Carwinion – with a testing climb just before the finish line, because would it even be a Cornish race without one?
Everybody who took part did an amazing job and we’re super proud of every runner, no matter where they came.
An additional well done to those who took home age category prizes:
- Andrea Simmons – 1st – Women 65-69
- Timothea Cardell – 3rd – Women 70+
- Neil Hayhurst – 2nd – Men 40-44
- Jon Eldon – 1st – Men 60-64
As well as the group taking part in Rosemullion, several Hayle runners took part in the Lighthouse marathon on Saturday. Starting from Pendeen at 10am, runners had until nightfall to make it along the coast path to Godrevy lighthouse. It’s billed as ‘Cornwall’s toughest marathon’ and we can definitely believe it. Well done to everybody who took part and also those members of the club who marshalled!
