Making it rain team prizes at Indian Queens

53 runners from Hayle were some of nearly 400 who completed the Indian Queens half marathon on Sunday 4th August. It was another hot day for this particular race, which sees participants take on a mix of road and several miles of trails through Goss Moor.

The men did extremely well, managing to take both first and second place in the team standings. The first place team was comprised of Jacob Gardner, Adam Gore, Liam O’Neill, Edmund Bennett, Steven Hagan, and Neil Hayhurst; while Bradley Medlock, Curtis Hayes, Peter Barnes, Ian Curnow, Clem Mitchell, and Scott Abraham made up the second place team. The women also put in a very strong performance taking third place overall. That third-place team featured Debbie Harrison-Webb, Lucy Paull, Kirsty Medlock, Fiona Gamble, Anna Goodman, and Andrea Simmons.

Brilliant performances also saw several individuals come away with age category prizes. Those runners were:

Chunky Penhaul – 1st – Men 75-79

“The Indian Queens Half Marathon is a ‘Cornish flat’ half that our members really enjoy once they forget that it’s always a scorcher. Thankfully some light cloud cover kept a smidge of the heat at bay owing to a rain of personal bests, nine age category prizes, a mens team first and second place, and a ladies third place. Our members performed admirably and we’re extremely proud of each and every member.”
