It was a case of up, up, up (and up, up, up) and away at the Boconnoc 5 miler on Wednesday.
Part of the MTRS series, the weather favoured the 15 Hayle Runners who travelled to Lostwithiel to take part at the event held at the beautiful Boconnoc House estate.
The stunning grounds made for an undulating course, with steep hills, fields, woodland and the delight of some sweet downhill tarmac just before mile four. The perfect way to prepare you for a monster steep climb before hitting the final half a mile towards the finish line.
Pasties and presentations afterwards in the courtyard were a great way to show off the race medals as club members celebrated the winning success of Jon Eldon (60-64) and Chunky Penhaul (75-79) who won their age categories.
Hayle Runners fastest Boconnoc finisher was Liam O’Neill, Deborah Sturges entered her first ever trail race, Anne Cobell smashed last year’s time, and Suzie Smith and Jennie Massey brought up the rear running to the finish line holding up a Hayle Runners coat as a flag, shouting GO HAYLE!
A beautiful evening and one to put in your diary for next year.
