Hearing a race is hot and hilly could well leave you wondering which of the many events in the Cornish GP series is being referred to. In this instance it was last week’s Sticker 5.
With yet another impressive turn out from the Green Army, a fearless 46 Hayle runners took on the challenge.
Just half a mile into this undulating run around the B roads and country lanes of Sticker, competitors hit their first sharp climb.
Organised by Sticker Football Club there was second place success for both the men’s and ladies’ teams.
Melissa Nicholas, Fiona Gamble, Tear Lily, Corinne Gerrard, Andrea Simmons and Julie Towers made up the super six.
Meanwhile for the men it was Daniel Costello, Sam Farmer, Dan Millington, Oliver Brunnock, Steve Hagan and Liam O’Neill it clinched second place.
Race 10 of the season provided multiple successes for Hayle Runners, with an impressive 15 age category prizes.
Taking third in the 35-39 category was Liam O’Neill, there was gold for Steve Hagan in the 40-44 group. The 45-49 category was a clean sweep for Hayle Runners with Francis Malone-Lee taking first place, Edmund Bennett in second and Lee Burford in third.
Steve Wherry, Jon Eldon and Chunky Penhaul took gold in the 60-64, 65-69 and 75-79 categories respectively.
Melissa Nicholas led the charge for the ladies, placing first in the 35-39 age group, Fiona Gamble and Corinne Gerrard celebrated third place in the 40-44 and 55-59 categories respectively.
There was silver waiting for Julie Towers in the 60-64 category and clinching both first and second place in the 70-74 age group was Andrea Simmons and Diane Warren. What a great way for Diane to celebrate her birthday, with a silver win.
