18 of the Green Army could be found in Mount Hawke on Sunday, braving the weather to take on the Tywarnhayle 10K.
Starting from Mount Hawke cricket club, the route took in the coast path around Chapel Porth and back towards Porthtowan before a loop around Tywarnhayle mine. The description of the race promises technical descents, lots of mud, and a bit of river to run up – and that was before the biblical rain that greeted the brave runners on Sunday morning. Our intrepid crew found themselves immediately soaked and wading through floods and ankle-deep mud, but luckily their spirits couldn’t be dampened so easily!
Shoutout to Neil Hayhurst and Chunky Penhaul for taking first place in the 40-44 and 75-79 age categories respectively.
