As we began to head from autumn into winter, the Green Army were still out and about both at home and abroad taking on a whole array of challenges, from coast path marathons to fundraisers of their own invention. Keep reading to find out what everybody was up to last month…
Starting off on the 3rd, Tom Rosenfeld was out in Turkey competing in the Ironman 70.3 there. This consisted of a 1.9km swim off the coast before returning to land for a 90.1 km bike ride and a 13.1 mile run. Tom completed the lot in 4:14:37 – an 11 minute PB.

On the 10th, Andy Moore also took part in the Sodbury Slog, which is described as “a lung-busting, trainer-ruining, hill-climbing, multi-terrain challenge” where “mud is not optional”. This run in the Gloucestershire countryside takes in several water features and strategically-placed obstacles on the 10-mile route. Andy completed it in 2:05:24.9.
Jumping forward to the 17th, there was Hayle representation in two distances of the Lobster Lollop, which takes runners out and back along the Camel Trail from Padstow. Hannah White ran the 5K distance in 33.26, with Jared Sanderson doing the 10K in 1:08:57.
A huge well done to everybody who took on any kind of event in October. There were almost certainly more people completing more events than were listed here, and everybody did the club proud no matter what they were up to. We hope you had a wonderful October and we’ll see you for the next roundup at the end of November.
Melissa Nicholas created her own challenge to raise money for Landewednack Primary School. On the 28th she started on the school field and then completed loops of the Lizard for a full 24 hours before returning to the school field for a triumphant finish having run an incredible 93 miles. She also raised over £1500 for the school, far surpassing her initial target of £500. An amazing achievement for a wonderful cause.
