Hayle Runners February roundup

There’s a half marathon theme running through the February roundup, with 13.1 miles being by far the most popular distance!

The month got off to a strong start on the 2nd with Aidan Tucker taking part in the Richmond Park Half Marathon. The race takes in beautiful woodland, rolling hills, and diverse wildlife, and Aidan completed it in 1:29:54!

The 8th saw Fiona Gamble taking part in another half marathon, this time in Cardinham Woods. The Cardinham Woods Half Marathon is a trail race that takes the form of a series of loops through some of the most challenging sections of the woodland. Fiona finished in 2:07:39.

Also on the 8th, Margaret Clark was in Dorset for the Moors Valley Wildwood Half Marathon, which saw her take on a challenging and scenic course through some more lovely woodland! Margaret finished in 2:19.53.

On the 9th, a contingent of the green army took part in the much-loved Brown Willy run after it was rescheduled due to weather warnings earlier in the year. This 7-mile run raises fund for East Cornwall Search and Rescue, so is in aid of an excellent cause! The runners who took part were Ian Curnow, Neil Hayhurst, James Manning, Wendy Pascoe, Todd Reynolds, and Di Warren.

Across the weekend of the 8th & 9th, a number of Hayle runners were also in Exeter taking part in the Half Marathons there which happened on both days.

Sam Kearney 2:56:40
Julie Towers 1:44:29

Naomi Astill 1:43:51
Helen Cattran 2:41:34
Laura Haghani 1:48:21
Kirsty Medlock 1:34:32
Suzie Smith 2:41:33
Helen Staples 2:28:20

A couple of weeks later Margaret Clark was at it again taking part in the Two Tunnels half marathon up in Bath. This is a race that takes in many of the attractions in Bath but also, well, two former railway tunnels as the name suggests. In fact it has the longest underground section of any half marathon in the UK! Margaret got it done in 2:11:45.

A huge well done to anybody who took part in an event this month, and we can’t wait to see what you all get up to in March!
