First place for the mens team at Falmouth Half

On the 16th of this month, 40 runners from Hayle took on the Falmouth half marathon as part of an amazing field of close to 800 people.

The notoriously hilly route starts on Cliff Road before looping around Pendennis Headland and then following the coast past Gylly and Swanpool beaches. Runners then head out towards Maenporth and Mawnan Smith, before heading back home.

The men’s team put in brilliant work to take first place – A huge well done to Steven Hagan, Andrew Paroissien, Daniel Millington, Edmund Bennett, Liam O’Neill, and Neil Hayhurst.

The womens team also put in a fantastic effort, taking second place. That team was made up of Melissa Nicholas, Fiona Gamble, Andrea Simmons, Corinne Gerrard, Julie Towers, and Naomi Astill.

Lots of the green army also walked away with age category prizes. Those runners were:

“We’re really pleased with the team’s performances this weekend. The men secured first place with a strong effort, and the ladies put in a great run to take second. It’s a great result for the club and a reflection of everyone’s hard work, from those who’ve raced Falmouth in the past to those who raced their first half-marathon today.”
