Ladies take another GP first place at An Res Hellys

On Sunday 6th April 54 runners from Hayle were part of an over 300-strong field of competitors taking on An Res Hellys.

This is a 10-mile multi-terrain run starting and finishing in Helston. The route takes participants through the National Trust Penrose Estate, along the coast and across Loe Bar. Runners then head up a hill to Gunwalloe. From there, the course heads inland, passing RNAS Culdrose before descending back into Helston for the finish. Participants this year were met with beautiful sunshine and great support on the course.

The women’s team put in a phenomenal performance to scoop first place. A huge well done to Melissa Nicholas, Fiona Gamble, Tear Rogers, Debbie Harrison-Webb, Julie Towers, and Laura Haghani.

The men’s team also did excellent work, bringing home second place in the team competition. Another well done to Jordan Morant, Neil Hayhurst, Liam O’Neill, Kieran Murrant, Jon Eldon, and David Guffick.

“We’re delighted with our club’s performance at An Res Hellys. With 54 of our runners taking on the course — including the infamous beach-then-hill section — our members rose to the challenge this weekend. Our outstanding ladies’ team finished in first place, and our men’s team secured a brilliant second place finish.”
