It was a strong day for Hayle Runners who competed in the Trevornick 10km in beautiful sunshine, spoilt with stunning panoramic sea views.
On May 10th 58 members of the Green Army made their way to Cubert for this GP series race with outstanding performances leading to a swathe of podium placings.
Whilst part of the road race series, number six in the calendar, this spectacular course is mainly off road.
Hayle’s Sam Farmer stormed over the finish line to win the overall event, placing first male in just 35 minutes and 50 seconds. His accomplishment was matched by Emma Paull, who took silver for the ladies’ overall, coming as second female in 42 minutes and 28 seconds.
“Trevornick 10K is always a tough race with the combination of the coastal route, rolling terrain and warm conditions, although the views probably go appreciated a bit more after the finish line than during it. Winning the men’s team competition and finishing second in the ladies’, along with bringing home 13 age category prizes, made it another strong day in the GP season for Hayle Runners.
Newquay Road Runners organised another excellent event and the support around the course was brilliant throughout.”

The 37 men and 21 ladies pulled out some brilliant PBs on the course. Sam Farmer won overall, with a first place ranking in the 20-24 category, in the same age group Dan Millington came third.
Liam O’Neill finished strong winning the 35-39 category, followed by Ross Rielly taking bronze.
Pete Barnes clinched third place in the 40-44 category, with Francis Malone Lee securing silver in the 40-44 age group.
There was success for Ian Curnow and Mark Williams in the 55-59 category, with a silver and bronze win respectively. And a tumble couldn’t deter Steward Townend who still secured a podium place with a bronze win in the 80+ age group.
There was success for Hayle ladies’, as Tear Rogers scooped silver in the 20-34 age group, as did Emma Paull in the 40-44 category. Charlotte Bennett (50-54 category) and Diane Warren (70-74) smashed out a gold win in their age groups.
