13 runners from Hayle were part of a field of over 250 who took part in the Tywardreath Trotter on 27th July. This seven-mile multi-terrain run is also the first in the 24/25 Multi Terrain Race Series! The MTRS consists of mainly off-road runs, and gives members of affiliated Cornish running clubs the opportunity to win a trophy if they complete at least seven out of eleven races – so the Trotter might have been the first step towards that for some of our runners.
Forming part of the Tywardreath Summer Fete celebrations, this is a well-supported race which begins in the village and takes in picturesque footpaths, bridleways, and country lanes before participants return to an enthusiastic welcome back in Tywardreath. They even got to see the sun on the way round on this occasion.
Congratulations to Liam O’Neill who took 3rd place in the Men’s 35-39 age category, and to Chunky Penhaul who came first in the Men’s 75-79 category. And a huge well done to everybody who took on a tough course and got it done.
