The 2024 Cornish GP series has officially begun

A huge 86 Hayle runners took on the Storm Force 10 miler this morning. It certainly lived up to it’s name this year, with some wild and windy weather adding interest to proceedings! Storm Force is one of the club’s favourite races, and it was fantastic to see such a huge turnout, with a healthy mix of seasoned Storm Force regulars and first timers. There were also more familiar Hayle faces dotted along the route to cheer everybody on.

The race runs from Camborne, through Barripper, to Realwa and Leedstown, before looping back through Carnhell Green where runners retrace their steps and race to the finish at Camborne School.

Emma Paull – Women 35-39 – 1st
Louise Ollivier – Women 55-59 – 3rd

In addition to the above, the ladies’ team – made up of Emma Paull, Melissa Nicholas, Kirsty Medlock, Lucy Paull, Debbie Harrison-Webb, and Corinne Gerrard – took 3rd place overall. A huge well done to them! The men’s team did great work as well, coming in sixth. Well done to Peter Barnes, Andrew Paroissien, Steve Fuller, Simon Jeffs, Dominic Turton and Liam O’Neill.

Everybody who took part in today’s race did the club proud and put in a phenomenal effort in some tough conditions, so great work everybody! A great many runners of all levels set new 10-mile PRs, which was fantastic to see.

“Carn Runners put on a brilliant event (as usual) and it was a great start to the 2024 GP season. We’ve had a number of new runners join the club recently and it was great to see them in their greens as part of our club.”
