On Thursday last week, 9 runners from Hayle were part of the 120-strong field running the Gribbin 10K, the final race in the 23/24 MTRS series.
The race is described as ‘not for the faint hearted’, and that certainly proved true as participants were treated to steep climbs and challenging terrain comprising coast path, meadow, the odd bit of tarmac, and steps. The route started on the road towards Menabilly and finished in the beautiful grounds of Menabilly House, which made for some of the most picturesque team photos we’ve managed in a while.
A proportion of proceeds from the race went to St Austell Foodbank, and donations were also collected on race day to support local families.
Despite the tough course the Men’s team – made up of Neil Hayhurst, Liam O’Neill, Jon Eldon, and Kevin Silver – took third place overall.
A handful of runners also picked up age category prizes, so a huge well done to:
Liam O’Neill – 2nd – Men 35-39
Neil Hayhurst – 1st – Men 40-44
Kevin Silver – 3rd – Men 55-59
Jon Eldon – 1st – Men 60-64
