Hayle Runners at the Trevornick 10k

Last weekend 47 runners from Hayle joined a field of 389 to take on the Trevornick 10K.

The route is part of the Grand Prix series, but rather than being on road like most GP races, this one takes runners on a mostly trail route across the countryside and on the coast path. It’s a challenging route but one with some beautiful views. This year’s race had some added spice thanks to the sunshine and the heat – we should never complain about lovely weather but it certainly added an extra layer of difficulty for the participants.

Despite the tough conditions, the Hayle contingent put in a very strong performance. The men’s team – which featured Neil Hayhurst, Jacob Gardner, Peter Barnes, Liam O’Neill, Dominic Turton, and Scott Abraham – took a brilliant second place. The women’s team did excellently as well, coming in second. That team was comprised of Emma Paull, Lucy Paull, Julie Towers, Beth Elkin, Corinne Gerrard, and Andrea Simmons.
